Cesar E. Chavez Middle School

Special Education

The Resource Specialist Program (RSP) at Cesar E. Middle School is a collaborative model. All students in RSP who have an Individual Education Plan will be enrolled in regular general education classes. The special education staff will follow a Lead and Support model of instruction delivery.

Lead and Support Instruction Model:

The Content Area teacher is primarily responsible for planning a unit of instruction and delivery of lessons. The special education staff shares in the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of curriculum.

Inclusive settings in the education classroom offers students an opportunity to feel less stigmatized.
General education placements are grade and age appropriate.
Progressing in general education curriculum would ensure that students with exceptionalities are challenged by high standards.
